Nuggets Interested In Cassell

The Denver Nuggets happen to be rather thin at the guard position - kinda.? They have a good starting backcourt in Allen Iverson and Anthony Carter.? That’s where it gets interesting because reserve guard Chucky Atkins (sports hernia) isn’t expected back until at least mid-March and J.R. Smith has been rather inconsistent.? Therefore, the team needs some insurance for the homestretch.? A?Nuggets source told Benjamin Hochman of the Denver Post that the team has inquired about the availability of Los Angeles Clippers point guard Sam Cassell.

Cassell’s agent, David Falk, cited that the Clippers owner, Donald Sterling, has said that he wants his team to make some vast improvement this season or else the coach and general manager could lose their jobs.? So for right now, consider Cassell to the Nuggets a rumor and nothing else.? But with the unpredictability of Sterling, that could change at any time; the financials between Denver and Los Angeles would have to make sense, as well.
