Okur’s Double-Double Occurs At Right Time Jazz Top Wizards 96-87

Mehmet Okur recorded a double-double scoring 27 points, and grabbing 11 rebounds, as the Utah Jazz came back from a first quarter deficit to defeat the Washington Wizards Friday 96-87. The win was Utah’s seventh?consecutive?victory, and Okur’s big night could not have been more opportune as Carlos Boozer had one of his least effective games of the season scoring only four points in the game. However Boozer was the only Jazz starter not to score in double figures.
Utah looked like they had left their game in the locker room during the first quarter, as Washington grabbed a 21-11 advantage at the end?of the first period. The Jazz awoke though from their coma in the second quarter to put them right back in the game as Washington?led by?a paper??thin margin 29-28 as the two teams ended the half. Utah took the lead by the end of the third quarter as they?led 67-66 going into the final period. The two teams kept it close throughout the first part of the quarter, but Utah took a 10 point lead at 81-71 on a 19 foot jumper by Deron Williams, and the Wizards just could never get back over the hump.
Okur shot 11-16 from the floor, 2-4 from outside the arc, 3-3 from the line for his 27 points, along with his 11 rebounds, he had 5 assists, 1 steal. Andrei Kirilenko scored 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 blocks, 1 steal, Ronnie Brewer scored 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals. Deron Williams also registered a double-double, 11 points, 12 assists, 3 rebounds, Matt Harpring came off the bench scoring 10 points, 5 boards, 1 assist.
Antawn Jamison led all scorers with 31 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block. Andray Blatche recorded a double-double, scoring 19 points, grabbing 13 boards, 4 blocks, 3 steals, 2 assists, Antonio Daniels scored 18 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds. Brendan Haywood scored 10 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 assist. Utah is now 29-18 after the win, Washington is 24-21.
