Kobe Bryant had one of his usual games Sunday against the Washington Wizards, especially in the first quarter.? His 19 first-quarter points helped the Los Angeles Lakers’ offense run very efficiently as they left Verizon Center with a relatively easy win over the Washington Wizards 103-91.
The first quarter was all Los Angeles - or all Kobe, depending on your point of view - as the Lakers scored 30 in the opening quarter, 19 by Kobe.? Bryant outscored the Wizards in the first period.? Bryant had 25 points by halftime, when the Lakers were up 63-41; Los Angeles in the first half had made 66% of its shot attempts, while Washington made only 36% of theirs.? The Wizards made small inroads a few times during the second half, but couldn’t mount a serious challenge to the Lakers at all.
Los Angeles’ leading scorer was the aforementioned Bryant with 30 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.? Vladamir Radmanovic scored 15, including 3 treys, while Lamar Odom had a decent game by adding 14 with 7 rebounds and 4 assists.? Washington was led by Antawn Jamison with 21 points, 11 rebounds and a steal, while Caron Butler added 15 with 5 rebounds and 7 assists; Nick Young and Roger Mason chipped in with 14 each.? Los Angeles (30-16) now makes the short trip to New Jersey to face the Nets Tuesday, while Washington (24-22) travels to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers - also on Tuesday.
