Cassell Denies Contract Buyout Rumor

While it is true that Los Angeles Clippers point guard Sam Cassell is unhappy that the team is losing, Cassell made it clear on Thursday that he is not lobbying to play elsewhere; according to the Boston Globe, Cassell was trying to buy out his contract so he could play with the Boston Celtics; but according to Cassell, in an interview with the Associated Press, “There’s no truth to it.? I never said I wanted to buy out my contract.? There have been no negotiations, the team hasn’t come to me about that, I have not gone to them about that.”

Cassell further added, “That’s not what I said.? The reporter said I’d be a perfect fit in Boston.? I’m still a member of the Los Angeles Clippers and I want to win as many games as possible with the Clippers.? I’m not happy that we’re losing, but I have a lot of good teammates on this ballclub that I really enjoy being around.”? Cassell has said that he’d probably like to play one more year before retiring.
