Magic Say They Are Exploring Options
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
“Florida Today” reported on Thursday that Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said he and General Manager Otis Smith are currently sorting out if they want to make any moves roster wise before the NBA trade deadline. The Magic are guard heavy as they carry three point guards, in Jameer Nelson, Carlos Arroyo, and Keyon Dooling and?three shooting guards. In fact one of the shooting guards J.J. Redick who was Orlando’s first round pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, has had his agent Arn Tellem approach Magic management with the idea of trading his client. Redick has played sparingly as he is behind, Keith Bogans, Maurice Evans on the team’s depth chart. The team says they have no plans on trading Redick. Even though the team could use a legitimate power forward, they have had success this season with playing Hedo Turkoglu, and Rashad Lewis, in the starting lineup. Van Gundy said he and Smith do not want to make a good short term move that will have bad long term ramifications.
