The usual suspects in the Detroit Pistons uniforms, for once, didn’t have to supply the offensive firepower that they usually have to get the desired result.? Granted, Chauncey Billups scored 17 first-quarter points, but the bench proved crucial, as the Pistons cruised to a 91-82 win over the Portland Trail Blazers Friday night at Palace at Auburn Hills.

Detroit led 27-18 after one quarter, thanks to Billups’ big scoring binge of 17 points; they then proceeded to blow the game wide open with Rasheed Wallace and 4 Pistons’ reserves on the floor.? With Wallace, Rodney Stuckey, Amir Johnson, Jarvis Hayes and Arron Affalo, the Pistons went on a 23-8 run on their way to a 50-36 lead at halftime.? The Pistons at one point led by as much as 27 in the second half.? So in essence, the game wasn’t as close as the final score indicated.

Detroit was led by Billups with 17 points – all of them in the first quarter – with a rebound and 5 assists, while Stuckey scored 13 with 3 rebounds and 4 assists.? Portland’s leading scorer was LaMarcus Aldridge with 22 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal; Jarrett Jack was the only other Blazer in double-digits, scoring 10 with 4 rebounds and 5 assists.? Detroit (36-13) continues their homestand by hosting the Charlotte Bobcats Sunday, while Portland (28-21) makes the short journey to Indianapolis to face the Indiana Pacers on Saturday.
