?????????????????????????????????? Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis (#8) takes a shot as Sacramento Kings guard Mike Bibby defends during their game, played Saturday night. Ellis scored 34 points, leading Golden State to a 105-102 win over Sacramento.?

I think that it is a safe assumption that Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis is blossoming into one of the top guards in the Western Conference, if not the NBA.? If what he did Saturday night against the Sacramento Kings is any indication, he is on his way to future All-Star appearances.? Ellis’ 16 fourth-quarter points helped spark a Warriors rally, enabling Golden State to hold off the Sacramento Kings 105-102 at a sold-out Oracle Arena.

The first half was back and forth with neither team pulling away; Golden State would go into halftime with a slim 105-102 lead; fast forwarding to the fourth quarter, after Golden State’s Ellis scored 9 straight points to keep the Warriors ahead during a 3 1/2 stretch, they went up 98-90 on Stephen Jackson’s layup with 2:19 to play.? Sacramento would go on an 8-2 run, capped by John Salmons’ 3-point play with 35 seconds remaining; however, the Warriors’ Ellis hit a jumper before Salmons made another layup.

Ellis missed one of his final 2 free throws, which gave Sacramento one last chance; however, the officials didn’t call a shooting foul when the Kings’ Brad Miller was held while shooting a 3-point attempt moments later.? Miller made a pair of free throws, but Jackson added 2 more, then the Kings’ Ron Artest missed an open 3-point attempt at the final buzzer.? Golden State was led by Ellis with 34 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal; Jackson scored 26 with 6 rebounds, 3 assists. a steal and a blocked shot.? Baron Davis, while not having a good shooting night – 4-of-19 – nearly pulled off a triple double, scoring 10 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals.

Sacramento was led by Mike Bibby with 24 points, 2 rebounds, 7 assists and a steal; Artest scored 23 with 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and a pair of blocks.? Salmons from off the bench?added 19 with 8 rebounds, an assist, a steal and a blocked shot.? Miller recorded a double-double, scoring 10 with 13 boards and a pair of steals.?
