Knicks Rally Back To Knock Off Bucks 99-98

Jamal Crawford scored a game high 30 points, and the New York Knicks staged a furious comeback to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks Saturday night 99-98. The win stopped a downward spiral that had reached 8 straight losses, the last time New York had won was when they beat the Philadelphia 76ers in a game at MSG on January 25. Crawford told reporters after the game it felt like his team had just won the championship. The Knicks veteran guard looked like he had just made the NCAA Final Four, as he sprinted off the court waving his arms over his head.

The two teams were neck and neck through the first half, as the Knicks had a 26-25 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Milwaukee had the slight upper hand, as the two teams reached the half with the Bucks ahead 50-48. But Milwaukee surged ahead in the third quarter, as they held a seemingly insurmountable 81-64 lead with just 2:53 remaining in the third quarter, after Charlie Villanueva hit back to back buckets. The Knicks then went ballistic offensively, scoring 15 straight points bridging the third and fourth quarters, and in a New York minute it was a 2 point game as Milwaukee was up 81-79. The game ebbed and flowed, as New York pulled to within 1 point, at 86-85, only to see the Bucks go on a 7-1 spurt to make the lead 93-86 with 6:13 remaining in the game. But the Knicks would not be denied as they tied the game at 95-95 with a David Lee dunk, and took the lead for good with 2 straight baskets by veteran Malik Rose.

Crawford may have had his best game of the season, as he scored 30 points, and?had 5 assists, and 4 rebounds. Fred Jones scored 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal, David Lee came off the bench with 17 points, 9 boards, 1 assist, 1 block. Zack Randolph recorded a double-double, 12 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block, Eddy Curry scored 11 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound.?

Charlie Villanueva paced the Bucks with a double-double, as he scored 21 points, 13 boards, 2 blocks, 2 assists. Micheal Redd had a nice return to the Milwaukee lineup after missing six straight games with a strained knee.?Redd also scored 21 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds,?3 steals,?Charlie Bell scored 17 points off the bench 7 assists, 2 steals, 2 rebounds. Desmond Mason scored 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist, in the loss. New York improves to 15-36, Milwaukee is 19-32.
