Zeke Says No Trades Likely Before NBA Deadline
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Tuesday “Newsday” reported that New York Knicks team president and head coach Isiah Thomas told reporters that he does not foresee making any moves before the trade deadline. The Knicks have a 15-36 record and are in dead last in the NBA Atlantic Division. They trail first place Boston by 25.5 games, and are 6.5 games behind fourth place Philadelphia. Still Zeke says he does not think a trade is on the horizon. According to the report Thomas told reporters “I would only make a trade to help us get better. I wouldn’t make a trade just for the sake of shaking things up. Right now, my sole focus is to make the players we have better. In my mind, they are getting better and we’ve just got to keep working them to get better. We’re not looking for some savior. We have ourselves in this hole and we’re looking to dig our way out of it.”
Before Thomas had his contract extended last Spring I wrote an article saying that Zeke was a good bench coach, but not a good purveyor of NBA talent. I suggested then that James Dolan keep Thomas on as coach, but hire some young guy(basically a fantasy geek type)?who can sit in a backroom and make deals. Dolan of course kept Thomas on in both roles.
