Almost, “coulda”, “shoulda”, but didn’t. Jason Kidd was just 1 point, and 1 assist, for what would have been career?triple-double number 100. But as J-Kidd would be the first to tell you the most important thing was his team won the game as the New Jersey Nets held off a fouth quarter rally and beat the Minnesota Timberwolves Tuesday 92-88. Vince Carter led New Jersey recording a double-double 17 points, 10 assists,?and Bostjan Nachbar had another nice game off the bench for the Nets with 14 points.
Neither team could any offense in the first quarter, as the score was an anemic 16-16 at the end of the first quarter. Things got slightly more exciting in the second quarter as the contest?reached the half with New Jersey with a slim 38-35 lead. New?Jersey look like they awoke?from their half coma in the third quarter as they looked like they were on the verge of putting the game away, leading 66-56. But The T-Wolves offense came alive in the final 12 minutes, as they scored?32 points.? Even though the only time they got the lead down to less than five was at the end of?the game when the recently reactivated Randy Foye hit a 25 foot trey with 1 second left, at least they made the stretch run competitive.
Carter?shot 6-17?from the floor, 5-6?at the line for his 17 points, along with his 10 assists, he had 6 rebounds, 3 steals. Nachbar?added 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block to his 14 points, Richard Jefferson also registered a double-double, 13 points, 12 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal. Nenad Krstic scored 10 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and J-Kidd scored 9 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists, in the victory.
Sebastian Telfair led all players as he scored 24 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds for Minnesota. Center Al Jefferson had a double-double with 16 points, 11 boards, 1 block. Antoine Walker looked like he was being showcased during the game for a possible trade as he played 21 minutes, scoring 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists.?New Jersey after the win is 23-29, Minnesota is 10-40.
