Tuesday’s game between the New Orleans Hornets and Chicago Bulls was a game of contrasts; the first half belonged to the Bulls, but the second half went to the Hornets as David West and Peja Stojakovic combined for 54 points, leading the Hornets to a comfortable 100-86 win over the Bulls at United Center.
As previously stated, both teams were an exercise in contrasts.? Neither team shot very well in the first half, yet the Bulls managed to go into halftime with a slim 50-43 lead.? That’s where the contrasts come into play; after trailing in the first half, the Hornets outscored 29-18 in the third quarter and pulled away.? New Orleans was led by both West and Stojakovic with 27 points apiece - West grabbed 7 rebounds, dished out 3 assists, had a steal and blocked a pair of blocked shots, while Stojakovic drained 6 treys in addition to 3 rebounds and 2 steals.? Chris Paul added 25 with 4 rebounds, 14 assists and 2 steals.? Tyson Chandler, despite scoring only 4 points, grabbed 16 boards, with 3 steals?and 3 blocked shots.?
Chicago’s leading scorer was Andres Nocioni with 28 points and 4 rebounds, while Kirk Hnirich from off the bench scored 15 with 2 rebounds and 4 assists; Ben Wallace grabbed 16 rebounds.? New Orleans (35-15) make the very short trip to Milwaukee to face the Bucks Wednesday, while Chicago (20-31) continues their homestand by hosting the Miami Heat on Thursday.
