Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson hit a game record 11 treys Friday night as the Sophomores beat up their younger peers the Rookies, in the NBA Rookie Challenge winning by a score of 136-109. Gibson who scored 33 points in the contest easily surpassed the old record set in 2005 by Kyle Korver who hit seven. Gibson was just 1 point short of tying Amare Stoudemire for most points scored in the contest. Gibson was named the games MVP, the second Cleveland player to receive the honor. Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas had previously won the award. The Rookies were within hailing distance for most of the first half, but Gibson pushed the lead to 66-52 by the half. Kevin Durant led the Rookie team in scoring with 23 points.
