The Miami Heat know that for all intent and purpose, their season is over. They crawled into the All-Star break with the worst record in the Association, at 9-42, and are guaranteed a losing season even if they were to win every game left on their schedule. Needless to say there is lots of speculation for next season going on regarding the team. The “Chicago Tribune” NBA writer Sam Smith did some speculation of his own, and?according to?him he believes that?former Chicago Bull?Eddy Curry could be heading to Miami.

Smith is one of the most knowledgeable hoops writers on the planet, so when he writes something there is usually some basis of fact. Most NBA observers agree that Miami?forward Shawn Marion will not be with the Heat next season. Marion of course was part of the trade that sent Shaquille O’Neal to Phoenix.?Smith theorizes that Miami Head of Basketball Operations, and current coach Pat Riley?does not have the patience to rebuild through the draft. Curry seems to have worn out his welcome with the New?York Knicks, and can be had. The Heat can keep current starter Mark Blount as a backup center, but will not be legitimate contenders with him?as the primary force in the middle.
