You are not going to see a lot of?defense played in a NBA All-Star Game, nor would we want there to be. This is?a chance where the best players in the Association get together to showcase their offensive talents. Save the defense for the Olympics! Four of the five Eastern Conference All-Stars scored in double figures, and the one who didn’t was Jason Kidd who had a game high ten assists.
The Eastern team broke out in the first quarter leading 34-28 at the end of the period. They extended their lead as the?two sides went to their respective locker rooms at the half leading 74-65.?The?East had the?lead up to 106-93 as the game headed into the final 12 minutes of action. Kobe Bryant played his obligatory three minutes to satisfy some asinine rule, and got out of the game without further injuring his dislocated right pinkie finger( If you are in the dark please reference my article Bryant Forced By Rules To Play In All-Star Game.) All the rest of the scoring from the West came primarily from their bench, Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy scored 18 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 1 block.
