They Just Might Make It After All: J-Kidd To Dallas Deal Back On Course
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
ESPN reported Monday night that the on-again/off-again trade between the Dallas Mavericks and the New Jersey Nets appears to be getting closer to becoming a reality. ESPN.com is reporting that Nets head coach Lawrence Frank advised Jason Kidd, Malik Allen, and Antoine Wright not to come to the team practice on Monday night. Frank said the three players who would be sent to Dallas, if the deal comes to fruition, should wait until all is resolved before taking the court. New Jersey team President? Rod Thorn relayed to reporters that the trade “appears to be a go” after much stopping and starting.
If the deal is consummated, J-Kidd, Allen ,and Wright would head to the Lone Star State. New Jersey would still receive, Mavs point guard Devin Harris, center DeSagana Diop, and guard Maurice Ager, plus the draft picks in 2008, and 2010. Now instead of Devean George, and Jerry Stackhouse, New Jersey will receive Trenton Hassell, and Keith Van Horn. Van Horn who has not been anywhere near a NBA team all year will receive a sign and trade contract from Dallas, and they will then send him to New Jersey. George invoked a no-trade clause causing the first deal to fall apart. The Association told the Mavericks, that if they send Stackhouse to New Jersey, they would not allow him to re-sign with Dallas in 30 days. Stackhouse had said that he would return to the Mavericks in 30 days, anticipating the Nets would cut him after the trade was completed.
