The “Fort Worth Star-Telegram” Tuesday reported that Dallas Mavericks point guard Devin Harris took a 7:05 a.m flight to New Jersey. Although it has not been officially announced by either team, this would seem to be a significant development in the trade that will reunite Jason Kidd with his first NBA team the Mavericks. Harris told the paper “I have a new future to look forward to I’m looking forward to having a little bit more control, a little bit more freedom over there. I love my teammates here, so it’s mixed emotions, but I’m excited about the new challenge.”

If the deal does go down, J-Kidd, Malik Allen ,and Antoine Wright would head to the Lone Star State. The Nets would receive, Harris, center DeSagana Diop, and guard Maurice Ager, plus the draft picks in 2008, and 2010. Now instead of Devean George, and Jerry Stackhouse, who were in the original agreement, New Jersey will receive Trenton Hassell, and Keith Van Horn. Van Horn who has not been anywhere near a NBA team all year will receive a sign and trade contract from Dallas, and they will then send him to New Jersey. George invoked a no-trade clause causing the first deal to fall apart. The Association told the Mavericks, that if they send Stackhouse to New Jersey, they would not allow him to re-sign with Dallas in 30 days. Stackhouse had said that he would return to the Mavericks in 30 days, anticipating the Nets would cut him after the trade was completed.
