Could Jerry Colangelo Save The Knicks?
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Now that the NBA trading deadline is over, New York City Tabloid writers can go back to their favorite event this time of the year, predicting the demise of Zeke AKA Isiah Thomas New York Knicks President of Basketball Operations and head coach. Marc Berman who writes for the “New York Post” seems to derive a whole lot of pleasure in partaking in this task. Marc is one of the best beat reporters in the NBA, and actually a very nice guy (I know nice guy New York City sportswriter, there is a disconnect. Most of the New York media are truly good people especially those who cover the Knicks. You learn to get humble pretty quickly when the team you cover is one of the worst in the NBA. I have been there, after covering the 15-67 Cleveland Cavaliers.) Marc however seems to really have a strong dislike for Zeke, I don’t know if it as a person, or as a professional, that he dislikes him, but you can just feel the disdain come off the page when you read him.
On Friday Marc wrote that former Phoenix Suns head honcho Jerry Colangelo would be interested in taking over running the Knicks, if the job opens up after the season. Apparently according to the report NBA Commissioner David Stern would also favor that move. Knicks owner James Dolan did not seem to back up Thomas when he was asked about the Knicks last weekend in New Orleans. Dolan who was down in the Big Easy for NBA All-Star weekend when asked about his team reportedly said “I’m not commenting on the Knicks and I’m not commenting for a long time.”?
