Dallas Mavericks swingman Devean George has gained a lot of notoriety over the last two weeks as the fly in the Vaseline that almost derailed the J-Kidd to Dallas deal. As you well remember George exercised a no-trade clause in his contract, forcing the teams to scramble to come up with substitute bodies, going as far as bringing Keith Van Horn out of retirement. Well it turns out that George’s situation is far from rare in the NBA. ESPN.com has compiled a list of other players and their teams that also have a no-trade clause in their deals.

The complete list, as compiled by ESPN.com:

CHARLOTTE
Derek Anderson, Jeff McInnis

CLEVELAND
Dwayne Jones

DALLAS
Devean George

DENVER
Anthony Carter

GOLDEN STATE
Kelenna Azubuike, Matt Barnes, Mickael Pietrus

HOUSTON
Dikembe Mutombo

L.A. LAKERS
Chris Mihm

MIAMI
Earl Barron

NEW ORLEANS
Jannero Pargo

PHOENIX
Sean Marks

SACRAMENTO
Justin Williams

SAN ANTONIO
Jacque Vaughn

TORONTO
Darrick Martin

UTAH
C.J. Miles

WASHINGTON
Roger Mason

So now not only do NBA General Managers have to contend with a salary cap, they are further handicapped by the no-trade zone. Things sure were a lot simpler in the seventies, and eighties.
