Atkins On Road To Recovery

The “Rocky Mountain News” reported Monday that Denver Nuggets veteran guard Chucky Atkins was given clearance by doctors to begin running. Atkins had surgery for a Sports Hernia on January 11, and this is the first step in his return to playing on the hardwood. Atkins was originally told that he would take 10 weeks before he would be in playing shape, by the doctors after the surgery was performed. Atkins told reporters, that instead of watching the calendar he is listening to his body, that he will know when he is ready to return to action. Atkins who is 33 years old is in his ninth season in the Association, his first in Denver. He had previously played, in Orlando, Detroit, Boston, in L.A. with the Lakers, Washington, and Memphis.
