Pierce & Posey Lead Celtics In Romp Over Clippers 104-76

Paul Pierce and James Posey scored 17 points apiece Monday night as the Boston Celtics beat up on the Los Angeles Clippers 104-76.? The win allows them to go home from their road trip 2-3 after dropping the first three games after the All-Star break. Boston won the first game of their road trip Sunday night when they defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 112-102.
This was just the type of game you hope to end your road trip on, playing a below .500 team without two of their starters, as the Clippers were without center Chris Kaman still out with back spasms, and Sam Cassell who has a sprained right wrist. Boston took charge of this game early on, and you could see this would be a long night for the Clippers. Boston led 23-17 after the first quarter, they had increased their advantage to 45-36 as the two teams went to their respective locker rooms at the half. What ever little doubt was remaining was wiped out by the end of the third quarter, as the Celtics grabbed a 77-57 lead. The Clippers were never a factor in the final quarter.
Pierce scored 17 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, in the victory. Posey who has been a huge presence on the bench all season, certainly came up big in this game with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, Ray Allen scored 15 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds,1 steal, 1 block. Leon Powe had another nice night off the bench scoring 12 points, 3 rebounds, Kevin Garnett scored 11 points, 6 boards, 4 blocks, 4 assists, 1 steal.
Los Angeles was led by Tim Thomas who scored 15 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal.? Al Thornton scored 11 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, Corey Maggette also scored 11 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists.? Veteran Brevin Knight scored 10 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound, 1 block. Boston is now 43-12, the Clippers are 19-35.
