Cook To Play For NBDL Iowa Energy
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
The Associated Press reported Tuesday that Miami Heat rookie guard Daequan Cook?and backup center Joel Anthony will spend the next five games with the Iowa Energy of the NBDL. Heat coach Pat Riley told reporters Tuesday that the progress the two players make is really up to them “It’s really about Daequan and Joel getting there and saying, Yes, sir. Whatever it takes. What do you want me to do? How are we going to do it? I’m going to play hard and play as hard as I can. I’m trying to get myself ready. So we’ll see what happens in five games and then we’ll make a determination from there.”
Cook who played one season for Ohio State before jumping to the Association, has had trouble making the transition. In the Heat?s last 23 games Cook has shot better than 50% from the floor a total of three times. He is shooting just 32.6% during that time frame. Heat coach Pat Riley told the paper he is thinking of sending Cook to the ?D? league to boost his confidence back up as much as for any other reason. Cook said that he would take the demotion as a learning experience, and he realizes he has a lot of work to get to the level that he wants to be at.
