Celtics Shut Down Cavaliers 92-87

Ray Allen led the Boston Celtics with 22 points, Kevin Garnett recorded a double-double, and the Celtics shot 52.3% from the floor for the game while holding the Cleveland?Cavaliers to 38.3% for the game, and subsequently beat their guests from Cleveland 92-87 Wednesday night.
Cavaliers All-Star forward LeBron James returned?to the court in the second half after spraining his right ankle in the first half and scored 26 points, making him the youngest player to reach 1o thousand points in the history of the NBA. LBJ reached the mark at the age of 23 years, and 59 days, breaking the previous record by more than a year that was set by?th Lakers Kobe Bryant. Bryant was 24 years 193 days old when he hit 10 thousand. James left the game in with 4:24 remaining in the second quarter after spraining his ankle, x-rays came back negative and he was back on the floor in the second half.
Boston jumped out to a 25-16 lead at the end of the first quarter, they led by as much as 15 points, at 33-18 with less than nine minutes left in the half after Glen “Big Baby” Davis put the ball through the hoop. But Cleveland would make the game respectable as the two teams reached the half and the Celtics lead cut to seven points, at 47-40. Boston pulled away in the third quarter as? they had a double digit lead of 75-62 heading into the fourth. Cleveland never really was threat in the last period, in fact they were down 92-82 with 27 seconds left in the contest and former Celtic Delonte West scored the last 5 points of the game, hitting 2 at the line, and a trey at the buzzer.
Allen scored 22 points, he had 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block in the victory. Kevin Garnett scored 18 points, grabbed 11 boards, 5 assists, 4 steals, Leon Powe had another good game off the bench, 13 points, 3 rebounds. Paul Pierce scored 12 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal.
LBJ scored a game high 26 points, 8 boards, 4 assists, in the loss. Delonte West scored 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, the other former Celtics player now a Cavalier, Wally Szczerbiak had 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals. Zydrunas Ilgauskas was back in the starting lineup for Cleveland he had just 8 points, but a game high 12 rebounds, 1 block. Boston is now a NBA best 44-12, Cleveland is now 32-26.
