The “Courier-Post” has reported that the Philadelphia 76ers have released former Utah Jazz guard Gordan Giricek late Friday in order for him to be eligible for him to sign with a contending team by Saturday’s NBA deadline. Giricek was acquired earlier in this season from Utah for Kyle Korver, and had barely played for the Sixers since they picked him up. As we reported on Thursday there were reports that Philadelphia would buy out Giricek’s contract, with the only stipulation being, that the team would have is that Giricek would have to join a Western Conference team. Phoenix is said to have an interest in bringing the guard on board, especially if they can not land free agent guard Brent Barry. The report says that Philadelphia could save 350 thousand dollars if they complete the buy out.
