Yao Will Have Surgery Monday

The Associated Press reported Saturday that the Houston Rockets have announced that center Yao Ming will have surgery on Monday to repair his left foot. Yao was diagnosed with a stress fracture in the foot by team doctors last month, was shut down for the season, and strongly advised to have the operation. The surgery will be performed by team doctor Doctor Tom Clanton. The procedure will involve placing screws across the bone to bind it together, the estimated recovery time will be in about four months. Clanton told reporters that he believes the surgery should not prevent the Chinese born center from playing in this Summer’s Olympic games in Beijing.
