Piston Humiliate Clippers At Staples Center 103-73

Tayshaun Prince recorded a double-double, and the Detroit Pistons shot 54.3 % (44-81) from the floor for the game Saturday night, as they beat on the Los Angeles Clippers like Ricky Ricardo use to beat on the conga drum 103-73. The victory was the eleventh straight win for the Pistons over the Clippers, as Detroit played without starting point guard Chauncey Billups who was back in Detroit dealing with what the team labeled a “personal matter.” Billups missing the game ended a streak of 276 straight games that he, Prince, Rasheed Wallace, and Richard Hamilton had played as a unit.
This game was over really by the end of the first quarter, as Detroit jumped out to a 31-25 lead. They extended it to 55-42 as the two teams went to their respective locker rooms at the half. The margin remained the same at the end of the third quarter as the Pistons were ahead 76 -63 going into the games final 12 minutes. The Clippers would have been better off if they left the court for the night before the fourth quarter began as they struggled to put up 10 points in the last period.
Prince scored 22 points, 10 assists, 3 rebounds, in the victory. Rasheed Wallace scored 17 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks, 2 assists, Richard Hamilton scored 14 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds. Juan Dixon came off the bench and also scored 14 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds, rookie Rodney Stuckey subbed for Billups did a nice job, as he scored 9 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal in his first NBA start.
Corey Maggette led the Clippers with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal. Chris Kaman had another good game for Los Angeles as he recorded a double-double 13 points, 14 boards, 1 block, Josh Powell also scored 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal. Detroit improves to 43-16, the Clippers are now 19-38.
