Adelman & Saunders Named NBA Coaches Of The Month For February

The NBA announced Monday that Detroit Pistons coach Flip Saunders was named the NBA Coach Of The Month from the Eastern conference, Houston Rockets coach Rick Adelman was awarded the honor in the Western Conference. Saunders helped guide his team to a record of 9-3 during the month of February as the Pistons outscored their opponents 9.5 points per game during the stretch. Detroit had victories over three of the Western Conference leading teams,? the Dallas Mavericks, the Phoenix?Suns, and?the Denver Nuggets.

Adelman who is in his first year at the helm for the Rockets, led his team to a perfect month as they went 13-0. It is only the second time that Houston has had a perfect month,?the last time was November 1993, and the Rockets won the NBA?Finals that season. Maybe most impressive was the fact that the team kept on winning in spite of the fact that they lost center Yao Ming to?a stress fracture of his left foot and is lost for the season. Houston is riding a 15 game winning streak.?
