The Philadelphia 76ers seem to be peaking at the right time – case in point would be their upset win over the Phoenix Suns last Saturday.? They managed to avoid a letdown after that win as 6 Sixers scored in double figures not to mention that they shot 59% from the floor as they destroyed the punchless Los Angeles Clippers 106-80 Monday at Staples Center.
To illustrate how dominant Philadelphia was, they outscored Los Angeles in every quarter; Andre Iguodala’s 3-pointer gave the Sixers a 50-38 lead with 1:52 left in the first half as Philadelphia shot 57% in the first half, taking a 54-42 advantage into halftime.? They would maintain a double-digit lead throughout the second half, leading by as many as 27 after opening the fourth quarter with a 10-2 run.? The Sixers’ high scorer was Iguodala with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals; Louis Williams, from off the bench, scored 16 with a pair of rebounds, 8 assists and a steal.? Samuel Dalembert provided a solid effort with 12 points, 12 rebounds, an assist, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.
The Clippers were led by Al Thornton with 20 points, 6 rebounds, an assist, a blocked shot, but hurt his team with 10 turnovers; Corey Maggette added 16 with 9 rebounds and 4 assists.? Philadelphia (28-33) hopes to maintain their momentum as they travel to Seattle to face the Sonics on Friday, while Los Angeles (19-39) goes to Sacramento to take on the Kings Wednesday night.
