Nowitzki Gets One Game Suspension For Flagrant Foul
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
You knew this was going to happen, it was just a matter of when the Association would announce it. The NBA announced Wednesday that they have suspended Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki for committing a flagrant foul during Monday night’s loss to the Utah Jazz. Nowitzki fouled Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko during the first quarter as he was going for a layup. Kirilenko fell to the ground and fell on his hip, he was taken to the hospital but x-rays showed no broken bones. Game officials ruled the penalty a “Flagrant Foul 1″ but the NBA has since upgraded it to a “Flagrant Foul 2.” Had it originally been ruled as the upgraded foul the Mavericks veteran would have been immediately ejected from the game. Nowitzki will miss Thursday night’s contest when the Mavericks host the red hot Houston Rockets.
