Suns Stop Blazers Come Back; Hold On To Win 97-92

The Phoenix Suns dominated the Portland Trail Blazers for the first half?of their game Tuesday, and the held on for dear life in the second half as the Suns escaped with a 97-92 victory over the Blazers. Amare?Stoudemire scored 22 in the win for Phoenix, Brandon Roy led all scorers with 25 points for Portland.?
The Suns opened on fire leading 29-20 after the first quarter. They then extended their advantage to 60-41 as the two teams went to their respective locker rooms at the half. Phoenix suddenly went cold in the third quarter just as Seattle started to heat up, and the Suns lead was down to 8 points at 79-71 as the two teams went into the final period. Seattle kept chipping away, during the fourth and got as close as 3 points, but they had dug themselves too deep a hole in the first half to escape from. Phoenix held on for the victory.
Amare Stoudemire led the Suns attack with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 assist, 1 block in the win.? Steve Nash scored 19 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, the “Grant Hill Comeback Tour” had another stop Tuesday night as he scored 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal. Boris Diaw came off the bench and scored 14 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, and the “Big Aristotle” AKA Shaquille O’Neal did not have a great night offensively scoring just 6 points, but defensively he was a presence as he grabbed 13 boards, and had 3 blocks.
Brandon Roy scored a game high 25 points, he also had 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals in the loss for the Blazers. Travis Outlaw had another nice night off the bench as he scored 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal, LaMarcus Aldridge scored 11 points, 9 boards, 3 steals, 2 blocks. Jarret Jack came off the?bench and scored 11 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, Channing Frye also scored 11 points as he came off the bench, 5 rebounds.?Phoenix is now 40-20, while Portland is just above .500 at 31-30.
