The “Philadelphia Daily News” reported Friday that Andrew Toney who was the starting shooting guard for the 1982-1983 NBA Champion Philadelphia 76ers team will not be in attendance when the team celebrates it’s twenty fifth anniversary March 10. Toney who was nicknamed the “Boston Strangler” because of his great games against the Boston Celtics has declined to attend the event that will take place during the Sixers game gainst Boston. Many players from that team will be in attendance including, Earl Cureton, Clemon Johnson, Reggie Johnson, Franklin Edwards, and current Philadelphia coach and the point guard of that team Maurice Cheeks. Former General Manager Pat Williams now with the Orlando Magic will be also be at the celebration, but former Sixers coach Billy Cunningham has a previous committment for that date.
