Houston Wins Franchise Record 17th Straight Game Beat Dallas 113-98

Tracy McGrady scored a game high 31 points, and the Houston Rockets shot a blistering 54.2% (45-83) from the floor for the game, as they defeated the Dallas Mavericks Thursday night 113-98. The win extended the longest winning streak in team history to 17 games.

The two teams played competitively for the first half of the game, as Houston had a razor thin lead?of 25-24 at the end of the first quarter. Although the Rockets had a 5 point lead 0f 50-45 with less? than a minute to go in the half?Dallas outscored them 5-2 in the last 50 seconds to make it a 2 point game at the half with Houston ahead 52-50.? But the Rockets broke the game open when the two teams went back to the court in the third quarter, Houston was ahead 87-70 by the end of the period. Dallas never got closer than 10 points, in the fourth.

McGrady scored 31 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds, in the win for Houston. Rafer Alston has taken his game to another level in the last couple of weeks, he scored 24 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, Carl Landry is another young man who has picked it up recently, he scored 17 points coming off the bench, 2 rebounds.? Rookie Luis Scola had 12 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks,?Bobby Jackson scored 10 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist.

Josh Howard led Dallas with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist. Jason Terry scored 17 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, Jerry Stackhouse scored 11 points, 4 assists, coming off the bench. Dallas was without star forward Dirk Nowitzki who was serving a one game suspension for committing a flagrant foul Monday night. Houston is now 41-20 after the win, Dallas is now 39-23.
