J-Kidd Says He Never Quit On Nets
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
The “New York Daily News” reported that in an interview with Dallas Mavericks point guard Jason Kidd, Kidd refuted insinuations by New Jersey Nets President Rod Thorn that he had quit playing his best while still playing for New Jersey. Kidd was traded to Dallas just before the NBA trading deadline in a blockbuster deal.
Kidd will be facing his old team Saturday for the first time since the deal. Kidd was quoted in the?report as saying “I didn’t quit on the team. At the end of the day, I gave everything that I could give to the Nets. There were no more rabbits that I could pull out of the hat. There were no more rabbits that Rod could pull out of a hat. That is as far as they could go. I took them as high as I could.”
The day the trade was consummated Thorn was quoted as saying that he did not think that Kidd had played with same intensity that he always displayed in his career in recent weeks. The deal took more than a week to complete, as players had to be substituted at the last minute to make it work.
