Thorn Says Kidd Issue Is “Irrelevant”
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
The “New York Daily News” reported Friday that New Jersey Nets Team President Rod Thorn, will not respond to statements made by former Nets point guard Jason Kidd in an interview with the paper. Thorn had insinuated on the day that the Nets traded Kidd to Dallas, that Kidd had stopped playing with the intensity this season that he had shown in the past. Kidd was quoted in the paper as saying “I didn’t quit on the team. At the end of the day, I gave everything that I could give to the Nets. There were no more rabbits that I could pull out of the hat. There were no more rabbits that Rod could pull out of a hat. That is as far as they could go. I took them as high as I could.”
Thorn in response said that Kidd’s statements were essentially meaningless. Thorn was quoted as saying “That’s his opinion. I have no comment. It has to be that way because he’s no longer here at the present time. All of that is irrelevant.” New Jersey and Dallas will face each other Saturday night.
