D-Wade Out For Season

In what was expected but perhaps not this soon, according to Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, the Miami Heat have for all intents and purposes shut down star guard Dwyane Wade for the balance of the season (21 games left in Miami’s season).? As recently as last Thursday, Wade had said that although his knee is sore, he wanted to continue playing.

Unfortunately for Wade and the Heat, that day?of reckoning came 4 days later; so for the foreseeable future, Wade will use therapy in the hopes to getting his knee back to what it once was.? Later on this week, Wade will use what is called an “OssaTron treatment”; what this is is a form of high-tech, high-powered form of shock wave therapy.? The procedure is used for 30 minutes and afterward, Wade will be limited to passive exercise for the first 30 days; OssaTron has been used? to treat such injuries as plantas fasciitis and tennis elbow when other conventional forms of treatment fail.?

As one would expect, Wade will have a long summer; he still intends to take part with the USA Olympic team that will compete in?Beijing, China?in August, and the Heat open training camp about 4 weeks after the Games end.? So getting Wade?to rest and rehab his knee?right now is paramount in the eyes of the Heat organization; Wade finished this season ranking 5th in the NBA in scoring, averaging 24.6 PPG.?
