The Houston Rockets are benefitting indirectly form their current 18-game winning streak; the NBA announced that Rockets swingman Tracy McGrady has been named Western conference Player of the Week on Monday.? Charlotte Bobcats guard Jason Richardson was named Player of the Week in the Eastern Conference.
McGrady helped the Rockets zoom to an impressive 3-0 week, averaging 32.3 PPG, 7.7 APG and 5.0 RPG during that stretch, capped by a 41-point performance on Saturday as the Rockets defeated the New Orleans Hornets last Saturday.? Richardson, as the Bobcats went 4-0 for the week, averaged 28.5 PPG, 6.5 RPG and 3.0 assists, capped by scoring a career-high 42 points as the Bobcats beat the Golden State Warriors last Wednesday.? Other nominees were Boston?s Kevin Garnett and Kendrick Perkins, Cleveland?s LeBron James, Detroit?s Tayshaun Prince, Golden State?s Baron Davis and New Orleans? Chris Paul.
