Tracy McGrady scored a game high 19 points, while playing just 29 minutes, as the Houston Rockets just beat up the New Jersey Nets Monday night 91-73. The win was Houston’s nineteenth straight victory, they have a chance Wednesday night if they defeat the Atlanta Hawks, to tie the mark for the second longest winning streak in the history of the Association. The 1970-1971 Milwaukee Bucks won 20 straight games. The victory also puts them just one game behind the San Antonio Spurs, and the Los Angeles Lakers who are tied atop the Western Conference? with a record of 44-19.

The Nets right now are a team in total disarray, in the wake of the trade that made them a composite? of the Old Nets, and the Old Dallas Mavericks. Whether these pieces eventually fit together, or if they all remain in place remains to be seen, but for now it is jut one big gelatinous mess. Houston didn’t play that exceptionally well, the Nets played exceptionally bad!?The Rockets led at the end of the first quarter 22-15, it gets worse. At the half Houston was up 46-28. For what ever reason New Jersey coach Lawrence Frank decided that his team, did not receive enough punishment in the first half so he brought them back for the second half. Second verse, same as the first as Houston was up 70-47 at the end of three quarters. Houston’s starters took the bench and had pizza delivered in the fourth quarter. (No, they didn’t really do that, I know some one will take that seriously.)

McGrady scored 19 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, in the Houston victory. Rafer Alston scored 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, Luis Scola also scored 12 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal. Steve Novak scored 11 points off the bench, 2 rebounds, and the ancient warrior starting center Dikembe Mutombo did not do much offensively, scoring just 2 points, but defensively he still has it as he grabbed 6 boards, and had 5 blocks.

New Jersey was led by Vince Carter who had 13 points, 8 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal. Richard Jefferson scored 12 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, Devin Harris scored 10 points, 1 assist,1 rebound, 1 steal. Houston with the win is now 43-20, the Nets are 26-38.
