All of the signs look positive towards Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko possibly returning to the Jazz lineup as they face the Chicago Bulls Tuesday night; according to Steve Luhm of the Salt?Lake?Tribune, Kirilenko practiced on Monday morning, took the team charter to Chicago at noon and opened the possibility of playing some minutes against the Bulls.
Kirilenko has been shelved for about a week with a sprained hip, suffered? when he was flagrantly fouled by Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzski on March 3; while Kirilenko was on the shelf, Utah defeated Minnesota, Phoenix and Denver by at least 21 points per contest.? Assuming that Kirilenko is able to play, Jazz coach Jerry Sloan plans to start him, which is bad news for C.J. Miles, who is the #3 small forward?behind Kirilenko and Matt Harpring.

Although Miami Heat coach Pat Riley has temporarily left the bench in the hand of assistant coach Ron Rothstein, while he goes on the road scouting players for the 2008 NBA Draft, New York Knicks coach Isiah Thomas says he will not do the same. “Newsday” reported Tuesday, who like Riley is not only head coach, but Team President as well says he has no plans on leaving the team to scout college players. Thomas told reporters that he had “intimate knowledge” of some current college players who may come out early for the draft. The report named Memphis point guard Derrick Rose who hails from Thomas’ home town of Chicago as one player the team could have interest in. Another player mentioned in the report is Eric Gordon who is currently playing for the Hoosiers, where Zeke went to college.

Butler: Feeling Stronger Every Day
Filed Under Main | Leave a Comment
The “Washington Post” reported Tuesday that Washington Wizards forward Caron Butler is seeing daily improvement in how he is feeling and thinks it should not be too much longer before he will be?logging minutes in games for the Wizards. Butler who was scheduled to meet with a hip and groin specialist Monday night, told the paper that he felt relatively good after Monday’s team practice. Butler said It felt real good and now we’ll see how the body responds. But I was able to move around with no pain. At the end, probably the last five minutes of practice, I decided to pull out and get a little ice. Because of overcompensation, I had a little tightness in my groin area but that was it. Overall, I felt good.”
