The Los Angeles Clippers, the underachieving team that they are, are looking to compensate for the loss of point guard Sam Cassell; according to Jonathan Abrams of the Los Angeles Times, they are interested in signing former Miami Heat point guard Smush Parker for the remainder of the season, as verified by Clippers’ sources.

Parker had played in only 9 games with Miami this season before being put on paid leave since an incident on November 27 with a Miami valet parking attendant; he was susequently released on Monday.? Both parties (Parker’s agent and the Clippers) have had discussions, but as of Tuesday have not reached an agreement; assuming that Parker is signed, he would probably receive the prorated veterans minimum ($1.2 million).? Prior to playing with Miami, Parker played with the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 11.3 PPG as a starter.?
