The “Los Angeles Times” reported Wednesday that the Los Angeles Lakers could have interest in signing free-agent veteran forward Ira Newble for the balance of the season. Newble was part of the blockbuster three team trade on February 21, between Cleveland, Seattle, and Chicago. Newble was sent to Seattle who subsequently waived him on February 29. Since he was waived before March 1, Newble would be eligible for the Post Season. Newble is a defense first type of player in the Bruce Bowen mode. There has been speculation, that Newble would return to Cleveland, but he would not be able to sign with them until March 22.
