Reinsdorf Says Coaching Decision is Totally Paxson’s Choice
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main
Chicago Bulls interim coach Jim Boylan may as well change his name to “Dead Man Walking.” Why you ask? Well Wednesday Boylan got the double whammy from Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf courtesy of the “Chicago Tribune.” In an interview the Bulls Head Honcho not only gave Boylan the dreaded “vote of confidence”, he also told the paper that the decision was not his to make. Reinsdorf told the paper that although he personally was a supporter of Boylan, the choice for coach would be left up to Chicago General Manager John Paxson. Paxson earlier this week, said that he was not happy with the direction the team was headed in, and there would be changes in the off-season. Reinsdorf told the paper, he wanted the man who assumes the title of bench boss be a communicator, and someone who could inspire his players. Reinsdorf said the most important thing he is looking for in his coach “just has to be somebody that we feel will earn the respect of the players. That may very well be Jim Boylan, I don’t want to rule Boylan out. Jim is operating under very difficult circumstances because he has the tag “interim.” If he becomes the permanent coach, I think his ability to have respect and control players goes up.” ?Coach, I would start looking into unemployment benefits.
