The “Times-Picayune” Thursday reported that the Commission Chairman for the Superdome in New Orleans Ron Forman wants to get the New Orleans Hornets to give a firm commitment to the city. Forman is looking to lock the Hornets into a long term lease about 15-20 years, saying that it would benefit both the state and the franchise. Both sides have acknowledged that talks are going on, but Forman wants to accelerate the pace of the proceedings. Forman told reporters “It’s in the best interest of the state and the Hornets, so everybody knows they will be in town for the next 15 to 20 years or more, and we’re in the process of getting that right now. It’s time to sit down, dot the I’s and cross the T’s and get specific on a long-term agreement. I think the public is excited about it. Let’s make this happen.” The Hornets have not commented since Forman made the statement Wednesday.
