The status of Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas is still unclear, according to the Associated Press; however, on Monday, Arenas increased the intensity of his workouts in an attempt to return this season from knee surgery.? He also had an MRI on his knee Monday, as well.? According to Arenas, “They said everything healed.? They want me to ramp it back up?go full speed.”
Arenas said that he would work out Monday night and see how he feels Tuesday; he said that one doctor who examined him?recommended that he work out strenuously for 12 days.? Arenas had originally targeted March 2 as his return date; now that that date didn’t materialize, Arenas now isn’t even guaranteeing that he will return this season.? Arenas, who also has surgery on the same knee last April, has played in only 8 games this season, and he plans to opt out of his contract after this season and become a free agent.
Of course, there’s been speculation that Arenas he wouldn’t play any more this season to retain his current value; Arenas’ response to this rumor?? Arena concedes at least this: “That is the smartest thing to do, let’s be honest.? But at the end of the day, I still love the game of basketball.”? I have no idea what to make of that comment at all.? Mixed messages, perhaps?
