Could Skiles Be New Bench Boss For Hoosiers?
Posted by Jeff Sack under Main, Slam Dunk NCAA
The Chicago Sun Times Wednesday reported that Indiana University may have a strong interest in bringing in former Chicago Bulls coach Scott Skiles as their new bench boss starting next season. Skiles was fired from his job as Bulls bench boss after telling General Manager John Paxson and owner Jerry Reinsdorf that the team might need a new voice (not exactly how to inspire confidence about you from your employer.) Just last Spring Skiles was talked about glowingly as an up and coming coach in the Association. That reputaion was in tatters by the time he was fired on Christmas Eve, after a lackluster start of the campaign.

I have responded to a couple other blogs in the Tribune….so I may as well respond to yours in simple terms: hiring Skiles as IU’s coach makes fantastic sense. He is a warrior and this job will be a war. There are major problems with the program and I am certain he can take them on and restore order in a short time. They face sanctions from the NCAA and recruits are in the process of backing out of their commitments. Skiles can overcome these issues and make Hoosier fans proud of their team…..hiring the wrong man can be a fatal move: hiring Scott Skiles is the right move.
