Pistons Win Shoot Out Over Nuggets 136-120

Those that live by the sword, shall die by the sword. Sunday night the Denver Rockets scored 168 points, and crushed the Seattle SuperSonics 168-116. They thought they would try to play the same game against the Detroit Pistons who are known as a half-court slow down team that takes most pride in their defense. Problem, for Denver was they forgot about all the great shooters on the Pistons roster. Even though Denver shot a blistering 56.6% (43-76) from the field,?and 50% (10-20) from outside the arc, Detroit shot a white hot 60.4% (55-91) from the floor, and 60.0% (12-20) from three point range. The result was a 136-120 win for Detroit Tuesday night at the Palace at Auburn Hills.
It looked like Detroit was having fun playing run and gun, and the results certainly showed up on the scoreboard. The Pistons had a 34-25 lead at the end of the first quarter. Chucky Atkins pulled Denver within five points when he made a 26?foot trey to make it a 39-34 game with 9:51 left in the quarter. But Denver never would get that close again?in the period as?the two teams went into the half with Detroit leading 73-51. The Nuggets were able to bridge the gap by half during the third quarter, as the Pistons lead was down to 11 points, at 100-89 as the two opponents went into the final quarter. But Rasheed Wallace hit the first bucket of the fourth and Detroit was off to the races as Denver never again got within single points the rest of the contest.
Richard Hamilton who was wearing a misspelled team jersey for part of the game led 7 Pistons players in double figures, as he scored 24 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal. Rasheed Wallace scored 21 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, Jason Maxiell came off the bench and scored 18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists. Jarvis Hayes scored 17 points off the pine, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, Chauncey Billups recorded a double-double 14 points, 10 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal. Tayshaun Prince scored 13 points, 9 assists, 2 rebounds, Rodney Stuckey scored 11 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block.
Carmelo Anthony was the game’s high scorer with 27 points, 5 assists, 3 steals, 2 rebounds. Allen Iverson recorded a double-double 20 points, 11 assists, 2 steals, 2 rebounds, Marcus Camby also had a double-double 15 points, 11 boards, 6 assists, 1 block, 1 steal. Detroit is now 49-18 while Denver is 40-27.
