Thursday’s match-up between Kansas State and USC pitted two of the top college players in the country, Kansas State Michael Beasley and USC’s O.J. Mayo; however, when the smoke cleared, the Wildcat duo of Beasley and Bill Walker proved to be too much for Mayo and his Trojans teammates as #11 Kansas State defeated #6 USC 80-67 in the NCAA Midwest regional at Qwest Center at Omaha, NE.? Kansas State’s leading scorer was the aforementioned Beasley with 23 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and a blocked shot, while Walker added 22 with 5 rebounds and 2 assists.? USC was led by Mayo with 20 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal, while Davon Jefferson scored 15 with 6 rebounds, an assist, a steal and a blocked shot.? Kansas State will now advance to face the winner of the #3 Wisconsin-#14 Cal State-Fullerton game on Saturday at Qwest Center.
