Rebels Make Big First Half Lead Hold Up Beat Kent State 71-58

The UNLV Rebels Thursday defeated Kent State Thursday in NCAA first round action 71-58. The Rebels pushed to a 31-10 lead at the half Qwest Center and even though the Flashes outscored them by 8 points, in the second half they were never really threatened. UNLV shot 50.9% (29-57) from the floor for the game. Joe Darger was the game’s high score as he led UNLV with 18 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist. Kent State was led by Mike Scott who recorded a double-double in the loss 14 points, 10 boards, 1 assist. The Rebels take on #1 seed Kansas in round two.
