Stanford?s Mitch Johnson moves away with the ball as Cornell?s Alex Tyler slides on the floor during the second half of a first-round game at the NCAA men?s basketball tournament South Regional on Thursday.?

The good news was that the Cornell Big Red got to the NCAA tournament but the bad news is that they drew Stanford as their opponent; a combination of Stanford’s stifling defense and 55% shooting from the floor was more than Cornell could handle, as #3 Stanford easily disposed of #14 Cornell Thursday in the NCAA South regional at Honda Center at Anaheim, CA.? Stanford’s high scorer was reserve Kenny Brown with 18 points, 4 rebounds and an assist, while Robin Lopez scored 14 with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and 5 blocked shots.? Cornell’s high scorer was Louis Dale with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and a blocked shot, while Adam Gore scored 11 with 3 rebounds.? Stanford will now face #6 Marquette in the second round of the NCAA South regional at Honda Center on Saturday.
