Good Night American! Volunteers Win First Round Game 72-57

Tennessee Volunteers basketball head coach Bruce Pearl, is a very funny bright articulate man when you get him off the court. But on the hardwood during a game he looks like he is a coronary waiting to happen, as if he were a cartoon character, and the top?of his head is going to pop off and steam will start to spurt from his ears in seconds. Coach Pearl looked like that a lot as his Volunteers hung on and defeated the American University Eagles 72-57 on Friday in their NCAA ?East Regionals first round game. The Volunteers led 43-29 as the game reached the half, and Tennessee extended their lead in the second period. JaJuan Smith led the Vols with 19 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound. Garrison Carr led all scorers with 26 points for the Eagles, 2 assists, 2 rebounds. Tennessee will face the winner of the Georgetown Butler game in the second round.
