Heat Granted Extra Roster Spot

The “Miami Herald” reported Thursday that the NBA have granted the Miami Heat an exemption for a sixteenth roster spot.? The paper reported that originally Miami coach and Team President Pat Riley wanted to use the roster spot for a big man. However the report says that the team’s needs may have been altered when guard Jason Williams jammed his thumb against the Bucks Tuesday night. All NBA teams are allowed to carry 15 players on their roster, and can activate 12 for a game. Many teams go without filling the last two roster spots, going the with the Association minimum of 13 players.
