In what has to be the most surprising upset of the NCAA tournament thus far,? unheralded University of #13 San Diego gave #4 Connecticut all it could handle – and then some.??De’Jon Jackson’s?jumper with?1.2 seconds left in overtime catapulted the Toreros into the second round as they upset the Huskies 70-69 in the NCAA West regional Friday at St. Pete Times Forum.? San Diego’s high scorer was Gyno Pomare with 22 points, 4 rebounds and a blocked shot, while Brandon Johnson scored 18 with 5 rebounds and 4 assists; Rob Jones added 14 with 6 rebounds and an assist.? Connecticut was led by Jeff Adrien with 18 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists while Jerome Dyson and Hasheem Thabeet added 14 apiece – with Dyson grabbing 2 rebounds and dishing out an assist while Thabeet grabbed 6 rebounds and blocked 4 shots.? San Diego now faces Western Kentucky in the second round Sunday at St. Pete Times Forum.
